If you find a mess that has already happened, take the dachsund puppy in another area and clean up the spot. Please do not shout at your dog in any other way. If he goes in the house, you fell down on the job.
As you own him, it is completely your duty to look after that he is not doing anything obnoxious. So as to be happy your new Dachsund must feel protected about his location in the group.
If you havent come across any accidents within a period of two weeks then the chances are that your dachsund dog has learnt where to go for potty and you may permit him go out of the crate during free time. If there is an accident, you may have made a decision too fast. Remember that this is a kid you are dealing with; he cannot progress any faster than his maturity level will let him.
The procedure for older dachsund dogs is very much identical. Remember - even dogs who are supposedly entirely housebroken may have a number of "accidents" as they get familiar to their new surroundings.
Often too, dachsunds of both sexes will "mark" their territory so that any probable opponents are alerted that this is now their "turf".
Even older dogs who dont have accidents must check out of the crate every there hours. It is recommended to bring your dog out to eliminate when they wake up. Micturition is also regular for majority of the dogs after they wakeup. Also, some desire to defecate to relax their body.
Allow the adult dog an hour or so to roam in the house. Then out again at lunch and another hour or so of free time. Back in the crate. Out again around dinner time which is usually when the dog will both micturate and defecate once more.
By doing so, he can savor your company or can kick about with you until you go to sleep. In the end, pull him out for potty and back again to sleep. You can also use the same methods of housetraining like same potty location, same potty word and cookies, etc.
Nursing your dog is a hard work, but with constancy and fondness I have seen cent percent results. Even you can observe the consequences after duration of 3 weeks. When your dog does the "right" thing, remember to stay on your schedule & use plenty of praise and prizes (cookies).
In case, you dont notice any results after 4-5 weeks, you must contact a dog instructor to take the experts assistance. Keep in mind, your dog should not observe you cleaning the mess.
